This story was published late Thursday, which combines information that I got with Inquirer’s and a wire report. This news came as a shock to many, including me, who knew the victim. The full report can be read at INQ7.net.
Delia Gutierrez, 51, the president and chief executive of Media G8way Corp., which publishes the country’s leading IT magazines, was found lying in a pool of blood at the company’s offices in the Makati financial district late Wednesday, police said.
Gutierrez had been stabbed five times in the chest; her throat had also been slashed, homicide chief senior inspector Gary Reyes told reporters.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
Her husband, Ibarra, 55, was subsequently questioned by the police who clarified that he was not considered a suspect. Ibarra is the company’s editor in chief.
…But Ibarra’s son, Ibarra Gutierrez III, told INQ7.net that his father voluntarily submitted his sworn statement to police, dismissing earlier reports that the elder Ibarra was held for questioning.
