Baguio woman journalist survives attack

This is partly sad because somebody attempted to kill her. But she survived, which is good. Here is an excerpt of the report on INQ7.net.

A FREELANCE journalist survived an attack by a knife-wielding man as she was walking home Tuesday evening in La Trinidad town in Benguet province.

A report from the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) Baguio-Benguet chapter said the attacker, who wore a cap and masked his face with a handkerchief, locked the arms of Abigail Bengwayan, 25, from behind and held a knife to her neck.

Bengwayan is a regional council member of the NUJP chapter, a regular contributor of the Baguio newsweekly Northern Dispatch and also an officer of the Cordillera People’s Alliance (CPA).
