Int’l open source group to start training sessions in RP

There is really so much noise around open source these past months in the Philippines. According to this story written by Alexander Villafania for INQ7.net, there is really a need to train more open source experts in the country, now that more organizations and enterprises are becoming more aware of its benefits. Villafania wrote:

Alvin Marcelo, the group’s sub-regional (asia) node manager, told INQ7.net that open source advocacy is going through a revival worldwide as more companies and even governments contemplate using solutions based on open source applications.

Marcelo is a doctor who has also been advocating the modernization of healthcare and practice of medicine in the Philippines. He was among the first doctors in the country who is an expert in medical informatics. Now, he’s advocating open source as an alternative to developing applications.
