TYPHOON “Reming” (international codename: Durian) has strengthened into a super typhoon and is expected to hit Metro Manila Friday morning, the state weather bureau said late Wednesday afternoon.

The super howler, packing winds of 195 kilometers per hour with gusts of up to 225 kilometers per hour, is expected to make landfall in Catanduanes province in the Bicol region on Thursday morning, Nathaniel Cruz, chief of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecasting center, said.
