Reming leaves hundreds dead

Super Typhoon Reming (codename: Durian) has killed hundreds and left thousands homeless, as it battered provinces south of Metro Manila.

The latest report from INQ7.net reads:

TYPHOON “Reming” (international codename: Durian) the strongest storm to hit the country this year, will be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Saturday afternoon as it heads for Vietnam, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Reming, which reached a gustiness of 265kph at its peak on November 30, brought 466 millimeters of rain in Legazpi City, the highest volume of rain recorded in Albay since 1967, PAGASA said.

Mudslides and landslides had also been reported in the province.
