Slower Internet in RP: telcos

Expect slower Internet speeds in the next few weeks, telecommunications companies and Internet service providers said.

This is due to the ongoing repairs (or even replacement) of major underwater fiber optic cables that were damaged after this week’s Taiwan quake.

(UPDATE) PHILIPPINE Internet users can expect slower Internet services for at least several weeks, officials of telecommunications companies and Internet service providers said Thursday.

With the ongoing repair of major submarine fiber optic cables that were damaged after the magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Taiwan, “intermittent” connections would likely last for several weeks, they said.
