Filipino Blog Herald editor steps down

Filipino professional blogger Abe Olandres has stepped down as editor of Blog Herald, just barely 3 months in the job.

He said that a death in the family, a continuing legal case that has drained his financial resources, and more personal problems have forced him to leave Blog Herald.

INQUIRER.net excerpt:

MANILA, Philippines — A death in the family, a continuing legal case that has drained his financial resources, and more personal problems have forced the Filipino editor of the Blog Herald, Abe Olandres, to step down as its editor, INQUIRER.net learned Saturday.

Olandres named Tony Hung as new editor.

“There’s a cabinet reshuffling over at the Blog Herald. My fellow problogger Abe Olandres has recently stepped down as Editor of the Blog Herald, and will be exchanging positions with Tony Hung, erstwhile Assistant Editor. Abe cites personal problems that prevent him from giving the Herald more attention at this time,” wrote Blog Herald associate J. Angelo Racoma, in a recent posting in his personal blog.

I also found Tony Hung’s response to this sad news. He writes:

Its been a crazy nutter week for me, what with busy clinical responsibilities, and it seems to be culminating in some personnel changes at the BlogHerald.  For the past 5 weeks or so, Abe “Yugatech” Olandres has been at the helm of the ship as the Editor.  However, he’s run into some changes with his personal and professional responsibilities, and we’ve agreed to switch roles.

Yes, that’s right.

I have agreed to step in to take over as the Editor of the BlogHerald.  The official announcement and other details have been made over here at the BlogHerald.
