Soldiers involved in partisan politics?

Party list group Gabriela went to the Commission on Elections on Friday, along with several witnesses to complain about an ongoing harassment in Metro Manila urban communities by men in uniform. The complaint accuses the Armed Forces of the Philippines of “having ‘militarized’ urban poor communities in Barangay (village) Commonwealth in the ‘guise of peace and order and community service’ but which had troops asking about the whereabouts and activities of Gabriela officers and members.”

It also says that “militarization of Commonwealth in Quezon City started in November 2006 and continues up to the present.”

This INQUIRER.net video clip taken Friday by one of the witnesses of Gabriela shows photos of soldiers supposedly inside a church.
