Yahoo! Philippines is looking for a news producer

Yahoo! Southeast Asia is looking for a news producer based in the Philippines. This candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in covering Philippine politics and other hard news-related topics, and must be web savvy and active in social networks. The candidate must also have an experience in commissioning content and managing a group of contributors. The candidate will report to the Yahoo! Southeast Asia country editor for the Philippines.

The News Producer reports to the Yahoo! Philippines country editor and generally runs the daily operations of the Yahoo! news property. The producer is expected to do the following:

1. Run the daily operations of the news property, which includes writing, editing, curating and publishing content from various sources

2. Develop “special coverage” sections under News and commission stories to contributors

3. Manage a group of bloggers and contributors

4. Manage and curate social content

5. Develop web-based “special events” targeting a younger audience

6. Onboard fresh, young-oriented content

Candidate must also be able to:

1. Work with a team of various interests

2. Make and own decisions

3. Network with younger audience and mentor younger contributors

4. Have fun at work

Looking for a Manila-based editor for Yahoo! Southeast Asia

Yahoo! Southeast Asia is looking for hard-working, sharp, results-driven editor in Manila.

The Editor will be responsible for developing and managing content on the Philippine news website (ph.news.yahoo.com). He or she will also work across various teams at Yahoo!, including Sales, Business Development and Marketing, thus strong communication skills is a plus.

This role comes under the Yahoo! Philippine Editorial team but he or she needs to be able to work independently. The editor reports to the country editor for the Philippines who is based in Manila.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and assemble content for the news website

- Assemble special coverage and sales-driven web pages

- Identify key topics to develop to support audience and editorial initiatives

- Oversee news and lifestyle websites

- Identify and on-board potential content to support needs of various stakeholders

- Oversee design and assembly of special advertising pages

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

- Deliver and develop content required by various stakeholders

- Support the achievement of revenue and audience targets

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- At least 3 years of online journalism experience

- Good grasp of digital publishing and basic web design

- Good working knowledge of digital marketing and advertising

- Able to work and lead various teams across various markets

- Able to juggle and multi-task

- Great time management skills

- Comfortable working with a team

Yahoo! Southeast Asia is looking for a sharp, results-driven events producer in Manila.

The Events Producer will be responsible for building and driving online and offline Yahoo-branded events in the marketplace. You will work across various teams at Yahoo!, including Editorial, Sales, Business Development and Marketing so you need to be a strong communicator with great skills in aligning business needs.

This role comes under the Media Development team but you need to be comfortable working independently to drive events. The event producer reports to the Head of Media Development, who is based in Singapore.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Create, build and drive strong online and offline events that deliver strong value for the audience and sales

- Identify appropriate content to acquire or create to support events

- Oversee pre-event coordination and on-site event management

- Identify and recruit partners and speakers where necessary

- Build collaboration opportunities with strategic industry partners

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

- Deliver stipulated number of online and offline events successfully by working across various teams

- Support the achievement of revenue and audience targets

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- At least 3 years in event management

- Good contacts in the industry for seminars, exhibitions, conferences

- Able to work and lead various teams across various markets

- Able to juggle and multi-task

- Great time management skills

- Comfortable with working independently

- A great sense of humor
