Bad news: The Ombudsman has decided on Monday to reverse its earlier recommendations clearing the Commission on Elections officials and the Mega Pacific consortium of criminal and administrativeliabilities for a voided poll automation contract.
It said that no one is liable in the 1.3 billion-peso contract that was cancelled by the Supreme Court, INQ7.net reports.
Ma. Corazon Akol said this news was nothing but a “letdown.”
“Any Filipino who loves this country should not stand by this ruling. This is the people’s money. So are we no longer to collect the money? It is difficult to become a Don Quixote if the system is rotten. We can only fight so much. But if the rest of the system does not want to continue the fight then what can we do?” she lamented.
