Private and government groups have decided to finally come together and set up an “umbrella” organization that will focus on pursuing the information and communications technology vision of Davao City. Jason Banico was kind enough to explain the objectives of the group and its plans.
Banico is also behind a portal of sort that details plans for The Silicon Gulf. What is a Silicon Gulf? The website explains:
Silicon Gulf is a nickname for Southern Mindanao, Philippines, referring to the growing number of software companies sprouting in the area. The term was derived from the term Silicon Valley, referring to the high tech cluster located in the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California.
Davao Region is one of the regions of the Philippines, located on the southeastern portion of Mindanao. Davao Region consists of four provinces, namely: Compostela Valley, Davao, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. The region encloses the Davao Gulf and its regional center is Davao City.
Jason has also created video blog of The Silicon Gulf.
